Bow

蝶結び chō musubi

A decorative finish for gifts and clothing that unties with one pull; suits gifts for events that may happen again.

  1. Fold D back on itself into a loop.
  2. Lay the loop over to the left and wrap B round the front of its root.
  3. Push a fold of B through the gap behind the first loop: it makes the second loop.
  4. Pull both loops sideways to tighten the bow.
  5. Even out the 2 loops and the 2 tails.
  6. Done: the finished bow.

How to undo it

Pull either tail straight out; both loops slip through and leave a single tie.
