Gift Wrap: Two-Tone Rosette and Bow

贈り物包み(二色バラ結びと蝶結び) okurimono tsutsumi (nishoku bara musubi to chō musubi)

Use a small or medium furoshiki, at least 50 cm. Knot: Square knot, Bow, Rosette.

Gift Wrap: Two-Tone Rosette and Bow, finished
  1. Lay the larger outer furoshiki flat, then the inner one on top as a diamond, and place the box in the centre. Use a 68-70 cm outer furoshiki and a 45-50 cm inner one, both inside up. Inner corners are A-D; outer corners are A2-D2.
  2. Lift inner corners A (near) and C (far) into peaks above the box. Inner B and D fold in against the sides of the box.
  3. Bring inner A and C together above the box and tie them in a square knot. You should now see a dark knot on top of the box, its ends standing up.
  4. Lift outer corners D2 (left) and B2 (right) up the sides of the box.
  5. Tuck dark end C (far) down under the dark knot. Leave dark end A standing for the rosette.
  6. Tie D2 and B2 into a bow on top, just below the dark knot. Leave dark end A standing. You should now see a light bow with one dark end standing up above it.
  7. Roll dark end A down into a tight coil. Roll it toward the knot and tuck the tip under.
  8. Sit the rosette on top of the bow and spread the bow loops. You should now see a dark rolled rosette above a light bow.
