Suitcase Travel Bag

旅行サブバッグ ryokō sabu baggu

Use a large furoshiki. Knot: Single knot.

Suitcase Travel Bag, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki wrong side up. Lay it as a diamond with corner A pointing at you.
  2. Fold it corner to corner into a triangle. Lay corner A (near) on corner C (far).
  3. Tie an overhand knot in the left corner.
  4. Tie an overhand knot in the right corner. You should now see a single knot at each end of the triangle.
  5. Turn the furoshiki right side out and open it.
  6. Place your belongings in the centre. The knotted corners D and B sit at the two sides of the bag.
  7. Tuck the two knotted corners inside.
  8. Cross corner A over corner C once above the contents, pulling firmly. Cross them deep, down close to the contents, so the load cannot shift. A now points up on the right and C on the left.
  9. Set the bundle on top of the suitcase, in front of the handle. Leave the crossed ends C and A standing free; next they go round behind the handle bar, as the dashed arrows show.
  10. Tie the two free corners around the suitcase handle in a square knot. You should now see the bundle held snug against the handle, knot flat across the bar.
