肩掛け袋(横結び) katakake bukuro (yoko musubi)

Use a large or x-large furoshiki, at least 90 cm. Knot: Square knot, Single knot.

Shoulder Bag: Side-Knot Hobo, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and place the items in the centre. Corner A points at you; B is right, C is far, D is left.
  2. Wrap corner B (right) around corner C (far) and tie a single knot. Hold C about one-third of the way in from its tip; knot B around it, then pull C to lengthen it. C becomes half of the strap. You should now see one knot with a long end C pointing up, and A and D hanging free.
  3. Repeat step 2: wrap corner D (left) around corner A (near), leaving A long. You should now see a bag with a knot at each upper side and 2 long ends rising between them.
  4. Tie the long ends A and C in a square knot to make the strap. Adjust the length so the strap fits over your shoulder before the second tie. You should now see one strap running between the 2 side knots, with a flat knot on top.
