Shoulder Bag: Corner-Knot Sling

肩掛け袋(角結び) katakake bukuro (sumi musubi)

Use a large or x-large furoshiki, at least 90 cm. Knot: Square knot, Single knot.

Shoulder Bag: Corner-Knot Sling, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and place the items in the centre. Corner A points at you; B is right, C is far, D is left. The 2 arrows show the next move: B and D lift up over the items.
  2. Lift corners B (right) and D (left) and tie them in a square knot. Tie near the tips so the loop below the knot fits over your shoulder. You should now see the items in a pointed sling, with A and C hanging as 2 points.
  3. Tie a single knot in corner A, close to its tip. The knot gathers the point and rounds off that side of the bag.
  4. Repeat step 3 with corner C. Then slip the loop under the top knot over your shoulder to wear the bag. You should now see a rounded pouch hanging from the top knot, with a small knot at each lower side.
