Long Package Wrap: Twisted Ends

長物包み(両端ねじり) nagamono tsutsumi (ryōhashi nejiri)

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 68 cm. Knot: Single knot, Twisted rope (handle twist).

Long Package Wrap: Twisted Ends, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond, corner A pointing at you. B points right, C away from you, D left.
  2. Place the box near corner C (far), its long side facing you. You should now see the long box lying across the far half of the furoshiki.
  3. Fold corner C (far) over the box toward you. Tuck the tip under the near side of the box.
  4. Roll the box toward you until it reaches corner A (near). Keep the roll tight and straight; B and D end up as long ends left and right. You should now see the box rolled in the furoshiki with a long end on each side.
  5. Twist the left end (D) into a tight rope, close to the box.
  6. Twist the right end (B) the same way. You should now see a twisted rope at each end of the box.
  7. Tie a single knot in the left rope (D), right against the box.
  8. Tie a single knot in the right rope (B) the same way. You should now see a package like a wrapped sweet, with a small knot at each end.
