Body Wrap: Shoulder-Knot Tunic Top

巻きトップス(チュニック・肩結び) maki toppusu (chunikku, kata musubi)

Use a large or x-large furoshiki, at least 100 cm. Knot: Square knot, Single knot.

Body Wrap: Shoulder-Knot Tunic Top, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a square, corner A at your near-left. Corners run clockwise: A near-left, B far-left, C far-right, D near-right. Use 100 cm (mi-haba) or larger.
  2. Fold the far edge (B–C) down onto the near edge (A–D). Now B lies on A and C lies on D.
  3. Tie A and B together in a small knot. Use only the tips, about 5 cm, so the knot stays small.
  4. Repeat step 3 with C and D at the other end. You should now see 2 small knots, one at each end of the open edge.
  5. Put the furoshiki on with a knot on each shoulder. One layer hangs in front of you and one behind.
  6. Pull the side edges together at your waist. Follow the arrows: gather the front and back edges on one side.
  7. Tie the 2 corners at your hip, 1 from the front layer and 1 from the back, in a square knot. You should now see a sleeveless top with a knot on each shoulder and 1 at your side.
  8. Check the knots close up: one on each shoulder and one at your hip. You should now see 2 small shoulder knots and a knot at your hip with a corner tip showing above it.
