Apple Wrap

りんご包み ringo tsutsumi

Use a small or medium furoshiki, at least 45 cm. Knot: Square knot, Twisted rope (handle twist), Twisted ring.

Apple Wrap, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and place the apple in the centre. Corner A points at you.
  2. Tie corners C (far) and D (left) in a square knot above the apple. Pull the knot down snug so the apple is held in a ball. You should now see the apple in a pocket under a knot, with A and B hanging loose.
  3. Lift corners A (near) and B (right) up above the knot, as the arrows show.
  4. Twist A and B separately, each into its own rope. Twist each corner from the first knot up to about 5 cm from its tip.
  5. Tie the tips of A and B in a square knot to close the ring handle. The 2 ropes form a ring above the first knot. You should now see a round bundle with a twisted loop handle on top.
  6. Check the handle close up: 2 twisted ropes joined by a square knot on top. You should now see a ring-shaped handle with a small flat knot at the top.
