Two Bottles Wrap: Upright Front Knot

二本瓶包み(前結び) nihon bin tsutsumi (mae musubi)

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 68 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Two Bottles Wrap: Upright Front Knot, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and stand both bottles side by side in the centre. Corner A points at you; line the bottles up from left to right.
  2. Lift corners A (near) and C (far) and tie them in a square knot above the necks. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see a knot above the necks and corners B and D hanging at the sides.
  3. Wrap corners B (right) and D (left) around the bottles in opposite directions. Pass B around the front and D around the back, pulling both snug. The picture shows the bottles from the left side, so both corners appear on that side: one passes in front, the other behind.
  4. Bring B and D round to the front and cross them at mid-height. Keep the furoshiki flat and tight around both bottles. You should now see both bottles held tight, with 2 ends crossing at the front.
  5. Tie B and D in a square knot at the front, halfway up the bottles. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see a front knot at mid-height and a knot above the necks.
