Two Bottles Wrap: Individual Neck Knots

二本瓶包み(首元結び) nihon bin tsutsumi (kubimoto musubi)

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 72 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Two Bottles Wrap: Individual Neck Knots, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and stand both bottles side by side in the centre. Corner A points at you; line the bottles up from left to right.
  2. Wrap corner D (left) up around the left bottle to its neck. Keep the furoshiki snug against the left bottle; the right half stays flat.
  3. Tie D with corner C (far) in a square knot at the left bottle's neck. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see the left bottle wrapped and knotted, with corners A and B hanging free.
  4. Wrap corners A (near) and B (right) around the right bottle. Bring both corners up round the right bottle to its neck; A goes round the outside of the hanging cloth.
  5. Tie A and B in a square knot at the right bottle's neck. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see each bottle wrapped on its own, joined under the bases, with a knot at each neck.
