Two Books Wrap: Classic

本包み hon tsutsumi

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 68 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Two Books Wrap: Classic, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and set the 2 books side by side in the centre. Corner A points at you; B is right, C is far, D is left.
  2. Slide the books apart, one toward B (right) and one toward D (left). Leave a gap of about 2 book widths between them, as the arrows show.
  3. Fold corner D (left) over the left book.
  4. Repeat step 3 with corner B (right) over the right book. You should now see both books covered, with A and C still pointing near and far.
  5. Roll each book over once toward the centre until the 2 books meet. Keep the folded corner tucked under each book as it rolls; leave a finger's width between the books as a hinge. You should now see 2 wrapped books lying side by side, A near and C far.
  6. Stand the books up so they lean against each other. Fold at the gap between them so the covers face out.
  7. Bring corners A and C up and cross them above the books.
  8. Tie A and C in a square knot on top. You should now see 2 books standing together with a flat knot on top as a handle.
