Sarong: Short Triangle Wrap

腰巻き(三角・ショート) koshimaki (sankaku, shōto)

Use a large or x-large furoshiki, at least 100 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Sarong: Short Triangle Wrap, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond, corner A pointing at you. Use 100 cm (mi-haba) or larger.
  2. Fold corner C (far) down onto corner A (near) to make a triangle. You should now see a triangle, point toward you, with D and B at the ends of the long edge.
  3. Wrap the long edge around your hips, the point hanging over one leg. Start with the point (A and C) at the outside of one thigh; bring B and D together at the opposite hip.
  4. Tie B and D in a square knot at your hip. Tie once, then tie again crossing the other way. You should now see a short sarong with a flat knot at one hip and the point down the other leg.
  5. Pull ends B and D apart so the knot lies flat on your hip. Close-up of the hip: the 2 short ends point sideways along the waistline. You should now see a flat knot at your hip with the furoshiki smooth across your front.
