Sarong: Long Wrap Skirt

腰巻き(ロング) koshimaki (rongu)

Use a x-large or xx-large furoshiki, at least 110 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Sarong: Long Wrap Skirt, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a square, corner A at your near-left. Corners run clockwise: A near-left, B far-left, C far-right, D near-right. Use 110 cm or larger.
  2. Pick up the far edge by corners B and C. This edge becomes the waistband; A and D hang down toward your feet.
  3. Hold B at your hip and wrap C behind you and across the front. Pull the edge snug so the furoshiki hangs straight down to your calves. You should now see the furoshiki wrapped around you, with B and C meeting at one hip.
  4. Tie B and C in a square knot at the side of your waist. Tie once, then tie again crossing the other way. You should now see an ankle-length skirt with a flat knot at your hip.
  5. Pull ends B and C apart so the knot lies flat at your waist. Close-up of the waist: the knot sits on the side seam, the 2 short ends pointing sideways. You should now see a flat knot at your side with the skirt edge hanging straight down from it.
