Roll Wrap: End Knots with Handle
巻き包み(両端結び・持ち手付き) maki tsutsumi (ryōhashi musubi, mochite tsuki)
Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 68 cm. Knot: Square knot, Twisted ring.

- Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond, corner A pointing at you. B points right, C away from you, D left.
- Lay the cylinder in the centre, running from D to B.
- Fold corner A (near) over the cylinder, angled toward the left end. Lift it diagonally so its tip points toward corner D; C stays flat behind.
- Fold corner C (far) over the cylinder, angled toward the right end, across A. You should now see A and C crossed over the cylinder, with B and D lying flat at the ends.
- Wrap C around the right end and tie it to B in a square knot. Fold B up over the end of the cylinder first, then tie. You should now see a knot hugging the right end of the roll.
- Wrap A around the left end and tie it to D the same way. You should now see a knot near each end, like a sweet wrapper.
- Twist each of the 2 ends of the left knot into its own tight rope. Twist both ropes in the same direction.
- Bend the 2 ropes up into a ring and tie their tips together in a square knot. Close-up of the left end: the 2 twisted ropes form a ring, closed by a small knot at the top, that you can hook a finger through. You should now see a ring handle on the left knot and a plain knot on the right.
