Ribbon Bag (Books, Files, Laptop)

リボンバッグ ribon baggu

Use a medium or large furoshiki.

Ribbon Bag (Books, Files, Laptop), finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond. Corner A points at you; B is right, C is far and D is left.
  2. Place the item diagonally so its long bottom edge lies along the line between the left and right corners. The item sits on the far half, toward C.
  3. Fold the near corner up over the item to meet the far corner, making a triangle. You should now see a triangle with the item inside, corners D and B at the ends.
  4. Bring corners D (left) and B (right) round to the front of the item. Lay them over the folded layer so they meet in the middle.
  5. Tie D and B in a square knot at the front, holding the item in place. Pull snug so the item cannot slide; the knot looks like a ribbon on the front. You should now see the item held flat under a ribbon-like knot, with A and C standing up at the top.
  6. Tie the near and far corners together at the top in a square knot to make a handle.
  7. Lift the bag by the top knot. You should now see the item hanging level, with a ribbon knot on the front and a handle at the top.
