One Bottle Wrap: Rosette Finish

一本瓶包み(バラ結び) ippon bin tsutsumi (bara musubi)

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 68 cm. Knot: Square knot, Rosette.

One Bottle Wrap: Rosette Finish, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and stand the bottle in the centre. Corner A points at you.
  2. Lift corners A (near) and C (far) up together above the bottle top. Hold A and C together straight above the bottle so the furoshiki hugs its sides.
  3. Tie A and C in a square knot just above the bottle top. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see a knot on top and corners B and D hanging at the sides.
  4. Wrap B (right) and D (left) around the bottle so they meet at the front. Pull each corner snug as it passes behind the bottle.
  5. Tie B and D in a square knot low on the front of the bottle. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see a second knot near the base with 2 tails hanging down.
  6. Twist the 2 tails together into a rope and coil it around the knot. Coil the rope flat against the bottle like a snail shell.
  7. Tuck the tip of the rope under the coil to hold the rosette. Push the tip well under the outside of the coil so it is hidden and the coil can't spring open. You should now see a knot on top and a flower-like rosette at the front of the base.
  8. Shape the coil into a round, flat rosette with no tip showing. Close-up of the rosette: the rope spirals round the knot like petals. You should now see a round rosette lying flat on the front of the base.
