One Bottle Wrap: Crossed Collar

一本瓶包み(襟合わせ) ippon bin tsutsumi (eri awase)

Use a medium furoshiki, at least 68 cm. Knot: Square knot.

One Bottle Wrap: Crossed Collar, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and stand the bottle in the centre. Corner A points at you; B is right, C is far (behind the bottle), D is left.
  2. Wrap corner D (left) diagonally up across the front of the bottle. Carry it toward the right shoulder, as the arrow shows; the bottle stays in the centre.
  3. Bring the far edge (C) round the right shoulder and down across the front over D, crossing like a collar. Let a narrow strip of the inside show along the edge; it forms the light line of the collar.
  4. Wrap corner B (right) around the lower part of the bottle. You should now see a crossed collar at the shoulder and the neck left bare.
  5. Wrap corner A (near) around the lower part the other way, over B.
  6. Tuck the ends of A and B under the band around the base. You should now see the bottle wrapped up to the shoulder with a neat band and the neck bare.
  7. Or, instead of step 6, tie A and B in a small square knot at the front.
