Hidden Knot Wrap

隠し包み kakushi tsutsumi

Use a small or medium furoshiki, at least 45 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Hidden Knot Wrap, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and place the box in the centre. Corner A points at you.
  2. Fold corner C (far) over the box.
  3. Lift corners B (right) and D (left) up over the box. You should now see the box covered by C, with B and D coming up and A flat in front.
  4. Tie B and D in a square knot on top, near the far edge. You should now see a flat knot on top, with A still lying in front.
  5. Fold corner A (near) up over the knot.
  6. Tuck the end of A under the knot so it is hidden, and smooth it flat. The tip of A disappears under the knot, with only a small fold showing. You should now see a flat parcel with a smooth top and no knot showing.
