Hand Carry Bag: Two-Handle Tote

手提げ袋(トートバッグ) tesage bukuro (tōto baggu)

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 70 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Hand Carry Bag: Two-Handle Tote, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and place the items in the centre. Corner A points at you; B is right, C is far, D is left.
  2. Lift corners B (right) and C (far) and tie them in a square knot. Tie close to the tips so the knot sits high: tie once and pull it tight, then finish the square knot. You should now see a flat knot above the items, with A and D still lying loose.
  3. Repeat step 2 with corners A (near) and D (left).
  4. Hold the bag by its 2 knotted handles. You should now see a bag with 2 knotted handles, the items inside.
