Body Wrap: Strapless Top with Waist Knot

巻きトップス(ベアトップ・腰結び) maki toppusu (bea toppu, koshi musubi)

Use a large or x-large furoshiki, at least 90 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Body Wrap: Strapless Top with Waist Knot, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond, corner A pointing at you. Use 90 cm (nishi-haba) or larger.
  2. Fold corner C (far) down onto corner A (near) to make a triangle. The arrows at D and B only show where they go next: round behind you. Do not fold the tips back. You should now see a triangle, point toward you, D and B at the ends of the long edge.
  3. Hold the long edge across your chest and take B and D round your back. Point down, edge snug under your arms: D in your right hand, B in your left. Cross them behind you.
  4. Bring B and D forward around your waist to the front. You should now see the band across your chest and both corners meeting at your waist.
  5. Tie B and D in a square knot at the front of your waist. Tie once, then tie again crossing the other way. You should now see a flat knot at the front of your waist, the point hanging below it.
  6. Check the knot close up: a flat square knot at the front of your waist. The point of the furoshiki hangs to about your hips; the longer skirt in the picture is separate clothing. You should now see the top edge straight under your arms and a flat knot with its ends pointing left and right.
