Body Wrap: Draped Crossover Top

巻きトップス(ドレープ・クロス) maki toppusu (dorēpu, kurosu)

Use a large or x-large furoshiki, at least 100 cm. Knot: Square knot.

Body Wrap: Draped Crossover Top, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a square, corner A at your near-left. Corners run clockwise: A near-left, B far-left, C far-right, D near-right. Use 100 cm (mi-haba) or larger.
  2. Fold the far edge (B–C) down onto the near edge (A–D).
  3. Fold the band in half lengthwise again to make a wide strip. This is the second fold, so the strip is 4 layers thick and about a quarter of the furoshiki wide (about 25 cm). A stays at one end of the strip and D at the other. You should now see a long strip with A at one end and D at the other.
  4. Drape the strip around the back of your neck, both ends hanging down the front. Make both ends the same length.
  5. Cross A and D over your chest, then take them under your arms behind you. Spread each end wide so it covers the chest as a panel. The dashed arrows show the hidden path to the middle of your back. You should now see the strip crossed over your chest, ends behind you.
  6. Tie A and D in a square knot at the middle of your back. Tie once, then tie again crossing the other way. If the ends are too short, use a 105-110 cm furoshiki. You should now see a flat knot with the ends pointing left and right.
  7. Spread the crossed panels over your chest and smooth the shoulders. You should now see 2 wide panels crossing over your chest and a knot at your back.
