Plant Wrap: Draped Vase

鉢包み(花瓶掛け) hachi tsutsumi (kabin kake)

Use a medium or large furoshiki, at least 70 cm.

Plant Wrap: Draped Vase, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki inside up as a diamond and fold corner C (far) down onto A (near). You now have a 2-layer triangle with its folded edge away from you, running from D to B.
  2. Stand the vase in the middle of the folded edge. Corners B (right) and D (left) stay flat at the ends of the folded edge. You should now see a 2-layer triangle with the vase at the back and the point toward you.
  3. Draw the furoshiki on the right up around the vase and across its front. Lift from behind the vase so the furoshiki wraps the back and comes forward to the left.
  4. Draw the furoshiki on the left up around the vase and cross it over the right side. Repeat step 3 on the left so the 2 sides cross in front of the vase. You should now see the vase wrapped with the 2 sides crossed in front and B and D flat at the sides.
