Chopstick Holder Wrap

箸包み hashi tsutsumi

Use a small furoshiki, at least 35 cm.

Chopstick Holder Wrap, finished
  1. Lay the furoshiki outside up (dark side) as a diamond, corner A pointing at you. Use a furoshiki whose 2 sides differ (dark outside, light inside). B points right, C away from you, D left.
  2. Fold the far-left half behind along the middle, edge to edge, so the dark side stays out: C goes behind to B and D goes behind to A. The fold runs from the middle of the near-left edge to the middle of the far-right edge. You get a dark rectangle, not a triangle. You should now see a dark rectangle with the fold along its far-left side.
  3. Fold the left end up diagonally so the light inside shows as a triangle. The fold makes light bands that cross near the top.
  4. Fold the dark band down toward you, so its light inside shows below a narrow dark strip.
  5. Fold the left and right edges behind to make a narrow pocket. You should now see a small trapezoid pocket with a dark band across it.
  6. Slide the chopsticks into the top of the pocket. You should now see the chopsticks standing in a small holder with a band across it.
