Horizontal band

正羽取り seiu-dori

Horizontal band

A single wide band of pattern runs across the furoshiki. In flat and basic wraps the band shows diagonally across the parcel.

Modern furoshiki trade term

A single horizontal band echoes the dan (stepped band) divisions of Japanese kosode design, such as dangawari. Seiu-dori is a furoshiki makers' term for a horizontal layout, paired with tate-dori for a vertical one; no older use of the word was found.
