1. Put a rubber band loosely round the bottle's neck and stand the bottle in the centre of the furoshiki, on the diagonal. Miyai: a bottle with a rubber band on it, at the centre of the diagonal.
2. Fold corner A in at the height of the bottle's mouth, gather it into pleats and hold the pleats under the rubber band. Miyai labels these corners a and b; which two corners they are is shown only in its diagram (likely the opposite pair lifted to the neck, as in its other bottle wraps).
3. Do the same with corner C. You should now see pleated fans at the neck, front and back, with B and D lying flat.
4. Lift corners B and D, cross them behind the bottle's neck and bring them round to the front. The crossing happens out of sight behind the neck: B passes behind to the left and D to the right, so each comes back round to the front on the opposite side, as the arrows show.
5. Tie B and D in a square knot at the front, placed so it hides the rubber band. Then spread the pleated tops open with your fingers like a frill. Cross the ends and tie once, then cross them the other way and tie again. You should now see a fanned frill above a flat square knot at the neck, with the rubber band hidden.
