1. Fold all 4 corners of the small furoshiki into its centre. Use a second furoshiki of about 50 cm. It becomes the handle; you need it as well as the main furoshiki.
2. Fold one long side of the folded square over to the middle.
3. Fold the other side over it to make a long, narrow strap. You should now see a flat strap about 4 fingers wide.
4. Lay the main furoshiki inside up as a diamond, corner A pointing at you. B points right, C away from you, D left.
5. Stand the box upright in the centre of the furoshiki, a long side facing you. Its ends point toward B and D, where the 2 knots will sit. You should now see the box in the middle with 4 corners of fabric around it.
6. Tie A (near) and B (right) in a square knot on top, at the right end. You should now see one knot on the top right, with D still lying flat on the left.
7. Tie C (far) and D (left) in a square knot on top, at the left end. You should now see 2 knots on top of the box, one at each end.
8. Thread the strap under both knots, one end out each side. Push it under the right knot, then on under the left knot (follow the arrows).
9. Tie the 2 strap ends in a square knot above the box to make the handle. You should now see an arched handle joining the 2 knots, tied at the top.
