1. Set a shopping basket in front of you.
2. Lay the furoshiki wrong side up inside the basket, with the corners hanging over the rim. Lay it square to the basket: A at the near-left corner, then B, C and D clockwise.
3. Pack the groceries into the furoshiki-lined basket.
4. Gather the middle of the near edge and tie it in a single knot, close to the rim. The knot takes up slack, like a drawstring.
5. Repeat step 4 with the middle of the far edge. You should now see a knot at the near rim and one at the far rim.
6. Tie the right pair of corners, C and D, together in a square knot to make one handle.
7. Tie the left pair of corners, A and B, together in a square knot to make the second handle. You should now see 2 knotted handles, one over each side of the basket.
8. Lift the bag out by both handles; the opening draws closed.
9. Carry the bag by both handles together. You should now see the opening pulled closed, with the groceries held inside.
