Protection and family continuity: thick 'grandfather' lines guarding thin 'grandchild' lines

Said to come from the Okina Sanbasō costume, or from 'grandfather' lines enclosing 'grandchild' lines

Large check of thick lines with finer lines set between them; the name is said to come from the Okina Sanbasō costume, or from thick grandfather lines enclosing thin grandchild lines. Benkei actually wears this check in Kanjinchō.
