# Band knot (one-loop bow)

片蝶結び katachō musubi

A neat finish with a single loop that unties with one pull; flatter than a full bow, good on bands and sashes.

1. Fold D back on itself into a loop.
2. Lay the loop over to the left.
3. Wrap B round the front of the loop's root, then pull its tip right through the gap behind the loop.
4. Pull the loop and B apart to tighten.
5. Done: the finished band knot.

## How to undo it

Pull the tail that leads into the loop; the loop slips out and leaves a single tie.

## Mistakes

- Pushing a fold of B through instead of its tip makes a 2-loop bow (knot-bow).
- Wrapping B round the loop the wrong way makes the loop stand upright; undo and wrap the other way.
